Did you know that the Kahui twins were actually triplets? Funny how so few media get that point. It's a very important one, but perhaps the 'why' of that, is for another blog. You know, the easiest thing for Macsyna to do would have been to stay silent, and walk away. It's interesting to me how so much key information is being "left out" of the media reporting.
If the police had evidence implicating Macsyna, she would have been on trial, not Chris. If Macsyna was found guilty, she would be in prison by now, not on the outside.
Why do people consider it their "right” to start a hate-mail/facebook campaign against Macsyna King and Ian Wishart? Democracy in action, means people can talk to who they like, and write a book if they want. Like David Bain. There's plenty of Bain-haters out there, too. Democracy in action means that people who have already made their mind up and decided David and Macsyna are guilty, because they "know"... don't have to buy the books
Trial by public assumption is more than the first step towards mob rule. It's gang warfare of another kind. Just without the colours and the patches. But it's own "initiation" relies on emotional and social bullying, which if seen in children in school, would result in the psychologists being brought in.
Not long ago, I was contacted by a father, who had been (wrongly) accused of SBS of one of their twins. Read Full Blog

A reader writes in - B4 school check
(Anonymous) Just recently our daughter had her B4 school check. I was told that this was a comprehensive check where I would be able to discuss my concerns. Not that I had any, but we still went. On that day, our daughter wasn’t feeling great at all. She was running a temperature which later that day went up to 39.8 and she also had quite a nasty cough. As we had stopped vaccinating her after her second shot four years ago I wasn’t concerned because I knew that she wouldn’t be receiving any vaccines. In the waiting room we filled in the forms and were soon called into the nurse’s office. On entering I told the nurse that our daughter was quite sick, she just replied “that’s ok”. She talked to her for about 30 seconds, weighed and measured her and told us that she had beautiful teeth. Well… I knew that already. Read Full Blog
Carte blanche Feudal thuggery
The Guardian today, produced a scrappy piece of journalism here, under the heading "Herbal remedies banned as EU rule takes effect." Whatever the actualities of what herbals will survive, and what is banned, is a much deeper issue. The voices of the skeptical comments supporting only big pharma, fall into two categories. The intolerant, who wouldn't know a fact if they saw one, and the "same old" spanish inquisitors, who are employed by someone to bully, snarl at, and smear anyone who is not a big pharma worshipper. Their mantra is that "only" science understands what is good for you. "Only" science is reliable. "Only" science can cure you. It's astonishing the depths of ignorance they reveal, yet... they have no idea. Like" rebecca rabbit" who scoffed, "When was the last time a doctor told you to ... starve a fever and feed a cold?" The coming police state?
What's your thoughts on Full Body Scanners? That they are a total over-reaction? My reaction is pretty much the same as The Washington Times, which unlike most New Zealand newspapers, does thoughtful analyses on really meaningful topics. You all know the term, "The war on terror". This "terror" can be interpretted in many ways, but lets start with the "terror" which resulted in the use of naked body scanners in airports. Do you remember President Bush saying that the first response to Al Queda, was life as normal, and not to make changes which show they have won? Well, USA has failed, utterly and spectacularly (which was to be expected), and Al Queda has most definitely won, as Washington Times amply illustrates. Total, utter, irrational hysteria will bankrupt the USA, in pretty short order. Why is that? Because USA loves listening to experts, who make their living from making maximum money out of diverse snake-oils. Not only did these "experts" cause the global financial crash, but these experts will bring about the total anhililation of decent society, and lead to global war. Perhaps that is their aim anyway. Perhaps we are all but pawns in the cynical games of politicians whose strings are also being pulled. Read Full Blog
Starship Doctors slammed
In the Sunday Star Times today, Judge David McNaughton delivered a swift message to Starship doctors about predictive and substandard medical care, and the presumption of guilt without good cause. The Judge found Famaile Lino not guilty of abusing his six month old child after Starship jumped to conclusions, and robustly defended their own preconceived mindsets. The Lino's lawyer said, " "It's a very important case. It shows how suddenly a person can be at home with their feet up looking after their children, and a nightmare commences." Here's the rub though. Court cases like this USUALLY only happen to people like the Linos or the Kahuis. Starship doesn't usually go after people who know what's going on; the limitations of the medical profession; and how to defend themselves. Starship are of course, scuttling into a "risk management" position, by defending the indefensible: Read Full Blog
How Doctors Think.
You don't think you need to know? Well, according to Dr Jerome Groopman, you do. Dr Groopman belongs to a rare species in medicine who tell it as it is - perhaps because he's been at the butt end of a few medical bum deals in his day. He knows what it feels like to be run over by his own medical system, and has the clout to write about it. His writing is vitally important, and utterly frustrating in the same breath. It's vitally important, because everyone who ever walks into a doctor's surgery needs to read this book, but most never will. It's frustrating, because Groopman misses a very important issue - which is what the next blog will be about. But first, the book itself. Read Full Blog
Professor Hemila shocks Sciblogs into silence.
Professor Hemila quite rightly asks sciblogs why they blethered on about mice and cancer instead of actually DOING a literature review on vitamin C and Pneumonia.... Did Sciblogs... actually put their brains into gear? Professor Hemila's Finnish website is the BEST place on internet to find early and more recent published medical information on Vitamin C. I'd like to think that Sciblogs might learn something from this airhead episode, but seriously, ... I very much doubt it. Here is Professor Hemila's post, for anyone interested: Read Full Blog
Intravenous vitamin C used in infection does not cause kidney stones.
In the wake of the TV3 documentary "Living Proof", thoughout New Zealand, families who have members in ICU with H1N1, are being told that their near-death family members cannot be given intravenous vitamin C because it would cause renal failure. The medical literature does not support this statement. Many times we hear about vitamin C and kidney stones, but where did that "information" come from? According to Professor Hemila of Finland, it is an "urban legend". Quite why the medical profession feel it so necessary to create urban legends, is another matter altogether. Professor Hemila details the literature on this on his a page on his website called "Safety of Vitamin C: Urban Legends" (page pdf'd): Read Full Blog
"Refusal" to vaccinate
While the medical profession has finally caught on, that the more "educated" a parent makes themselves on the issues around vaccination, the more likely they are to chose not to vaccinate, they are utterly offended that people can chose not to vaccinate. Furthermore, their take on the issue of "choice" is off the wall. Their solution to parents not making the 'right' choice, is to back parents into the wall and take pot shots at them with "Refusal to vaccinate" letters (see bottom), which read like legal documents, but are not. These "refusal to vaccinate" letters come out of such skewed thinking patterns as can be seen in this statement in May this year, from the biggest vaccine defender of them all, Dr Paul Offit: Read Full Blog
